I believe that senior citizens are one of several groups whose medical needs are not being properly addressed. Many seniors, children, and single women are without insurance, and don't get the care they need in terms of medical or dental issues. (I personally don't even see why dental issues are seperated from medical ones, but that's another matter). I believe it's long past time for all people in our country to have access to the health care they need and deserve.

In most cases the medical needs are not being taken care of at all. The cost of medicine and the monthly income they have to live on makes it almost impossible to survive month to month.

Something needs to be done for the middle class. I have friends whose parents go across the border to get their medication in Mexico. They don't know if they are even getting the right dose as labeled on the bottles.

For the lower income seniors they have the capability for getting their medicine for free in quite a bit of the time. Uncle Sam gives they pharmaceutical companies tax breaks for doing so.

For the wealthier seniors they have the capability to have an insurance policy that almost covers everything. They pay very little at the end. They do pay hefty premium but, these people can afford it.

Nope. There is no cure for old age, however. The current solution to most geriatric illness is medication. This is by far the most disturbing issue in geriatrics. On a daily basis, when reviewing a patient's chart, it is pretty much standard for a patient on medicare to take 12-30 forms of medication per day. I am NOT exaggerating. It is no coincidence that those on strict private insurance to not receive as many meds. This is also no coincidence.

I'm not a conspiracy type, but there is truth in actually seeing it in action. The folks with private insurance, ex-teachers for example, refuse medications as they know the bill will be in their mailbox more often than not. They leave the hospital just as healthy as the ones that took 18 meds per day.

No, they are not. Just visit the hiddens ones in the nursing homes who have to depend on others for care. Or go to a local senior citizen center and start asking about the cost of medications and food and which life and death choice they have to make. If you are not a wealthy senior citizen, your needs are not being met. Nursing homes cost are about $150.00 day. If Medicare does not find you in dire need of care, you pay or go.

No. My parents are elderly now. Through medicare and AARP they still have a $900.00 deductible to meet EACH!! My mother takes some meds that she cuts in half, so shes only taking half of the dose daily to conserve on the medication since they cant afford the high prices of medications. They have signed endless petitions for reformations but unfortunately they wont see any changes in their lifetime. But on the other hand the rich and the politicians have no health or medication worries, so they dont care what happens to the rest of the nation.

mom is elderly and coated ok and would not even ought to record income taxes simply by fact her income is so low. No, but neither are the medical needs of uninsured children. If they can afford to spend millions of dollars fighting a war, and supporting other countries they should be able to afford to overhaul the healthcare system to make it affordable for everyone. Illegal immigrants get better care than kids born in the US.

Absolutely not.

The people who worked hard to build this nation are being ignored.

Many have to choose between food and paying for prescriptions that they should be getting for free.
