34 1/2 weeks here!!!! I just don't want to talk to anyone or see anyone. I avoid answering the phone on ocassion because everyone wants to talk about the same thing over and over. Also when I go to the store people ask me when I am due and what I am naming the baby and blah blah blah. I know I should be happy about it, but after so many people asking I get fed up. It's normal to be like that. My midwife was talking about postpartum depression and my husband told her I already had all the symptoms so.....yeah, I know how you feel!!!

I've been dealing w/ it the whole time during this pregnancy. I'm 21 weeks along, and just recently got a part-time job working w/ alzheimers patients. I haven't worked since I got pregnant. I don't see my friends b/c I'm only 23 and a lot of my friends are big on drinking. Spending time w/ drunk people just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I sleep a lot and am tired all the time too, so I can't imagine what I will be like at 34 weeks! Don't worry, you are normal.

I found that to be true of myself near the end of my pregnancy. I think at least for me my reason was that none of my friends were pregnant, (or married for that matter!) or even thinking about kids! So my excitement was totally lost to them. That, and Most of the time my friends just wanted to party (drink & smoke cigarettes/cigars!) And I just really didn't want to be around that. Plus like you said you are tired a lot. I don't see anything wrong with being a bum, as you put it! You will be very busy very soon! Get a good book or a stack of dvds & relax while you can!

You could be in that "nesting" stage they talk about so much - where you just want to be home, make sure the house is ready for the baby, etc. Plus, by this point you're probably not feeling entirely comfortable or pretty! It's no wonder you wanna stay home.

As a parent of two, my advice? Start freezing meals, sleep AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE, and relax...because you're gonna be pretty wiped out for a while once the baby gets here.

P.S.
Should you start to feel depressed, anxious, etc. in the postpartum period, please consider visiting www.ppdsupportpage.com - it's a wonderful online support group and has lots of info about postpartum depression, anxiety, etc.

Good luck!

yep, same here. I don't have the energy for entertaining other people right now. My girlfriends are talking {behind my back, of course} about "how pregnancy changed her"... well, it did. Maybe it has something to do with the nesting instinct you get at this stage of pregnancy. But for me, being home just makes me feel safe {I know it doesn't make any sence}. When I am at home, I don't have to worry about my water breaking in public or making up excuses to leave the party because I am too tired. Well, good luck to you {and me! :)}, hopefully we will get our old personality back after delivery!

Yes, that's normal. It's what my friend calls, "Nesting". You don't want to get to far away from home because it's almost time. I just had my daughter and I felt the same way. I still feel that way. Having a baby is a tiresome thing. But it's worth it in the end. LOL
