I hate showering. Obviously I shower everyday, because that's normal, and I don't want to stink, but I dread it. It's not the actual shower, I actually love being IN it. But once I'm done, I'm miserable for the entire night. I'm FREEZING (even though I bathe in warm water, turn up the heater full-fledge and dress in a zillion layers of robes/clothes), my skin is dry no matter what (it practically drinks up any body creme I put on it) and it makes this horrible sound if my bare skin rubs against something (once I'm dry). It's the nails-on-a-chalkboard kind of sound that makes me cringe, when I press on my skin, the area pressed turns this awful white color (which disappears of course). Not to mention, I get papercuts a lot easier. My hands and feet are the worst, as is the back of my arms. Is there a psychiatric disorder that causes this? I hate this.

shower in the morning instead
you have a chance to build up natural moisture from inside out during the day as you are active and sweat or at least evaporate moisture while your circulation system is more active.
Change your soap or shower gel / body wash. There are some shower gels that have vitamin E and Aloe. Its soothing, and nourishing, encouraging healthy moist skin.
Its true, occasionally soak in a bath with marine minerals, Algaemarine is loaded with soothing and skin-nourishing minerals. Its great, and more common in Europe than North America, but something about it, its 10 times more soothing than anything else.

Shower less hot, use less soap, and if you can without smelling bad skip a day sometimes. We dry out our skin by washing too much -maybe not too much on a social level because of course we want to smell fresh, but it's still not good for us... maybe sometimes on your days off if you're not going out you can at least skip & give your skin a rest! Other than that I'd still go see a doctor for your skin seems more dry than normal... probably nothing really serious but maybe he has tips when overthecounter stuff doesn't work.
Oh yeah, drink lots of water! That helps against dry skin too, you moisturize it from the inside and the outside!

I love to shower. Something about feeling the water running sensually over my nude body gives me a thrill. Sometimes I prefer hot water to massage my sore muscles after a long day at work and other times I prefer cold water to make my body tingle all over. Not only do I like to shower but I LOVE a bubble bath. Sometimes I take a bubble bath first and then shower. Maybe you should try that.

No wonder you are freezing. Taking a shower in very warm water opens up your pores and makes you cool off. You should turn your shower as cool as you can stand it when you rinse all your soap off. Before you dry off use lotion that has no mineral oil or glycerine in it......Only natural products!!1 Mineral oil actually dries your skin out worse, and glycerine is actually sheep sweat (ich) Then pat the water that is left off instead of rubbing it (you should exfoliate in the shower, not when you're drying off). Your skin should still be a little damp when you put your p.j.s on or it will dry out even worse..............

First, see a dermatologist.
Second, take short warm showers: wet, suds, rinse, moisturize, and out! Unless, you sweat badly, you can skip the morning shower. Just be sure to get your face, and teeth.
Women, I think it goes without saying that there are times that one shower a day won't do, but you don't have to use a drying soap.
I personally have the paper cut issue with my dry hands. I use Aquaphor and that usually fixes things.

Natasza,
I've never heard of anything quite as severe as what you described. Why don't you try rubbing 100% pure shea butter on your skin after showering? It is long-lasting and very soothing. If you purchase this in the store, it will cost a fortune. I get mine on-line for about $7.99 per pound at: www.theafricanstore.org.
I think you'll like it. Works for me. Good luck to you, girlfriend!

Try and get in to see a skin dermatologist, in the meantime try some 'egoderm skin cream nourishment' if you can get it or ask for the pharmacist equivalent. Also see your doctor in regard to being cold and the white colour your skin turns when pressed could be something to do with your blood circulation.

After the shower, rub in "Udderly Smooth Udder Cream". Available at Walmart & many other places, inexpensive, and very effective. Smells good too!
