It's not too bad really. It's difficult having your first period, but don't worry about it. Some symptoms of it coming are: lower back pain, more fatigue than normal, being stressed out, a quick moodswing. You can control your moodswings when you know you are on it though by not worrying about it and going on as things are normal. What helps me is to drink plenty of water while it is happening and cut down on dairy a tad. Midol can be helpful in reducing the pain but can also make you drowsy. The main thing is to take care of yourself by drinking plenty of water, eating somewhat healthy, and getting decent sleep. Try not to stress out about things that would normally stress you out. This will help reduce the cramping, as stress always seems to make me cramp up more and bleed heavier. But yes, PMS usually starts the day of your period right before it happens, and you don't know you are PMSing til you realize it started.

Not everyone who starts their periods in their teens get PMS. I didn't get PMS at all in my teens.

But, yes, you do feel you're PMSing when it happens because everything you're feeling does not happen at any other time during the month. Moodswings is when you suddenly act grouchy or *itchy for no reason at all. Cramps are not a part of PMS.

You don't really know what PMSing is like until you get your period a couple of times and know how your body is affected by it. Also, if you don't get your period right away, don't worry. People kept telling me the same thing when I was your age and I didn't get it until I was nearly 15.

You won't recognize your first bout of PMS, but later on you may catch yourself being excessively bitchy. Me, I PMS 3 out of 4 weeks, so it's hard to not catch me in a bad state. I PMS the week before, the week of, and the week after, assuming my cycle is regular. I've been on depo for a while now, and I never know how my hormones are behaving so I dunno if I'm falling back into the loop of chronic depression or if I'm just experiencing the normal hormonal fluctuations of that demon depo shot.

Depo sounds great at face value, but in truth it messes up your cycle really bad, and it takes a lot of women a long, long time to get back to where they were before they got their first injection.
