Yes, you can.
I would recommend more focus on biology, and a few pre-med classes. Microbiology and Biochemistry are musts, because they are a lot of what biotechnology is. Microbiology also deals a lot with genetics. Genes are also a large part of biotechnology, so if you become a biotechnologist, then there is a good chance you will have something to do with genetics.

I am going to college next year. I've already registered for classes and everything. My Major is Microbiology, with a minor in Chemistry and Secondary Education.

I plan to work in Biotechnology, mostly in medical research through genetics.

Not all colleges offer a major in microbiology for undergraduates, but a major in Biochemistry with a minor in Biology should do you just as well.

The reason I have secondary education as a minor is that it offers me a back-up plan: If I can't find a job in research or industry right away, I can teach HS Biology and Chemistry.

Also, see if your high school offers Biotechnology as a class. I got the opportunity to take it this year, and I love it. It really helped me with my decision. It's starting to spread to schools across the United States now.

Edit: In reference to your question about mathematics in biotechnology: Yes you will need math. In order to get my degree, I will have to complete a course in basic calculus for biological applications. Also, I will have only two semesters of physics. Math will be important in your career, so it is important to be prepared.
Also feel free to contact me if you have more questions or wish to discuss biotechnology!

Good Luck!!!
