I'm wondering if you live in the Lone Star state now, were born there and live elsewhere, etc.

I live in New Jersey and randomly chose to go to Dallas for a vacation back in October 2000, one month before the election that went on until mid-December. I really enjoyed the night time drama "Dallas".

I remember staying in a very nice suite for not much money and having my own rental car. The only bad thing about my vacation was the traffic accident that I had in Austin TX. Luckily, no one was hurt and I got a new rental car.

I did enjoy my stay in Texas for the most part. Even though I'm a Democrat, I drove down to College Station and visited former President George H.W. Bush's Presidential Center. It was quite nice.

I was surprised at all the open space and tumbleweed that I saw, though I guess that's just Texas.

But I liked my stay there, for the most part.

I like Texas. It has a lot of good Mexican food amongst other things. When I drove cross country it felt like it took me a week to get through Texas though. Thought I'd never hit the state line.

I LOVE Texas!! It is so beautiful, and I love the heat. Also, most of my family lives in Texas, so I would be able to see them all if I lived down there. I'm planing to go to Texas when I go to collage, and I can't wait!! what do you think about Texas??

Depends. Some of the terrain is awesome! The lege is like kindergarden at milk and cookies time - someone needs a nap! Perry sucks. July-Sept. pretty much sucks in north Texas. Some of the people are nice, some of them suck. Having your vote not count if you're not conservative sucks, but that's a federal, Electoral College thing, not a TX thing. Dallas sucks - big asphalt and concrete heat sink with a useless city council and a non-existent city center. Fort Worth is an interesting, cultural place. The coast is nice, but over-used and under-protected.

State Parks are mostly pretty nice, some of them awesome. National Parks and Forests are few and far between, but very nice. Rock hunting's good, but not enough public access land.

"Don't mess with Texas!" A republic unto itself. Everything grows big there.

Both of my parents were Texas natives. I love Texas! Great universities there.

Other than the Bush-supporters, Texas is a nice place.

It's hard to generalize any state...especially one that big...But if you are going to generalize, I would say people are overall more friendly than other parts--curious to know why you'd be wanting to know what people think of Texas?

Best state in the union. But the illegal population is taking over. I hope more legislation sends them back home and stops them from leaching on us. they dont pay taxes, they get free healthcare, and a lot of them dont follow the law, and they send all this tax free money back to mexico. and im sick of it. But texas is a great place to live>
