The attack on Pearl Harbor can go either way as Hawaii at that time was not part of the United States. However the attack was on an air force base so that once. The attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon they can be clumped up to one more. Pancho Villa was the first man to attack the United States in Columbus, New Mexico that is three. (Not in order by the way) That is all I can think of right now. Sorry.

Just working from memory:

The war of 1812 - the British (we started that one).

The Germans sank many ships in U.S. waters prior to our entry into WW2.

Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.

Japan floated firebombs into Oregon and Washington state using balloons during WW2 (which actually didn't kill any Americans until long after the war was over)

The Alamo (but Texas wasn't a state yet).

9/11 - but that wasn't any national government - yet it was an attack.

Now if you're talking about attacks on America in other countries - there are hundreds of examples. (Embassy bombings, etc.)
