A transsexual is usually a person who feels they were born in the wrong body and thus want to correct it by transforming their body. It's more common for male to female transformations then vice versa. Gender and sex are not the same thing regardless of them usually being used interchangeable. The body can be one sex, but the gender can be another and thus, this causes serious problems for the person it affects, usually to the point of them wanting to end their own life. Some consider themselves transsexual after having a sex change, while others no longer consider themselves that after such an event.

A transvestite meaning can vary, from being a cross-dresser to being a transsexual. Sometimes it means men who sexually enjoy dressing up as a woman.

I am a transvestite or crossdresser. I am a guy but love to wear women's clothes. I think I might like women a bit too much.

"Transsexualism is a condition in which a transsexual person self-identifies as a member of the gender opposite to the one assigned to them at birth. Transsexualism is considered a taboo subject in many parts of the world. The justifications for negative beliefs about transsexualism may be perceived as being supported by religious beliefs or cultural norms. It has become more widely known in Western nations in the late 20th century due to the sexual revolution, but remains a highly controversial topic."

"Transvestism is literally the practice of cross-dressing, wearing the clothing of the opposite sex, and transvestite literally refers to a person who cross-dresses. However, the word has often had additional connotations."

In reality the "lines" are pretty much blurred.

They say though:
Transsexual is a person who has undergone at least one step to being changing their sexuality.
Transvestite is the same person, who just has not taken that step.

Personally I think "Gender Outlaw" is the best term for everyone.
