Right before my period I get really sever PMS. Is there anything I can take over the counter for the mood swings? I can't stand myself during this time and neither can anyone around me. I can't afford to go to the doctor, so please give me some advice, PLEASE.

Not a lady, but may have help. Severe forms of PMS are now recognized as PMDD which is a premenstrual "disorder" not just mild symptoms.......This is a new concept now being studied. There are many test groups being formed.......they will treat you for free for the test results. I know because my wife has been in one for over a month. This month we noticed BIG differences.

Talk to a pharmacist and see what they recommend there are a few different meds used for cramping that also relieve PMS symptons such as Pamprin and Midol

Another thing you might want to try is seeing if you can get birth control. There are clinics that offer birth control at very cheap prices or even for free if you cannot afford it. Birth control may help ease those symptoms. PMS is triggered by a severe hormone embalance that can often times be controlled and even corrected with birth control GOOD LUCK TO YOU :) FEEL BETTER SOON

Yeah you're not alone there. I take midol every 2 hours instead of 4 to 6. Exercise for at least 30 minutes or take a hot bubble bath and avoid being social as much as possible. Just try to take it easy when you're pms-ing. hope that helps.

I would go to planned parenthood and get put on some sort of low-dose birth-control pills. They regulate your hormonal level and so the effects of having your period, as a result, also tend to become less severe. If you don't have enough money, the state will pay for the cost of your pills (they usually give you a year's worth)

The best thing I have found for myself is the Midol PMS formula. Try to stay away from caffeine & sugar around that time, too, or it'll make you irritable.~

Birth control pills would be best. If you don't want to go that route, try taking magnesium every day. Also, flax seed or fish oil pills are supposed to help. Anything with Omega three fatty acid.
