oh sorry not that i'm saying your emo cause you wear black just it doesn't look good on me and by skater at my school means etnies and trucker hats, etc..

oky doky miss Prep, here is what you should do. You can wear jeans undernieth the dress. Or you could put on leg warmers. Its best if they are in a bright funky color. Also try wearing a long shirt or sweater under the dress. Doc Martins are good comfy shoes that come high on your leg, so that is something casual to wear with your most likely pink dress.
P.S skater isnt really style (it is a sport) and just cause someone wears black and arm warmers doesnt meam they are emo.

Try a sporty look. Wear some nice looking running pants that are silky...and a matching tight fitting spandex shirt. But you would have to wear sneakers for that, oh sorry. I have no idea what preppy people wear in the winter. I assumed one would go for a combination of comfort and warmth, but I'm just a nerd who wears jeans and shirts w/ sneakers all the time. Go with what feels comfortable....it is dress down day after all.
My personal experience is that the "preppy" ones never refer to themselves as preppy. The ones who are dying to be "preppy" are actually far from preppy, but strive to be one......every time I called someone "preppy" the person denied it and pointed to someone else who was "preppier" than them, and therefore was the only "preppy" person in the room. Just a little tidbit from my nerdy life experience.

Try a polo shirt under a v-neck or crew-neck sweater with pearls (necklace and/or earrings). Wear comfy and/or cute jeans w/ ballerina flats or loafers. That's easy! wear regular stone wash jeans, polka dotted vans, a thermal tee from ae, a vest like in your avatar, some pearls and bangles and patches since your so "original" lol
