Think about it... there is lots of space around each of the marbles. You can easily pack sand... it probably won't all fit, but you certainly don't need a 1.5 liter container.
The reason is that the density of marbles and sand is more than marbles alone.

Think about this . . .
Sand grains are MUCH smaller than marbles so they "fit" closer together. Put them in any container, and the sand will occupy the spaces between the marbles. Now, go answer your question.

No, not really. While you are measuring the volume of each, the marbles are round and do not take up all of the volume. The sand will fill in those spaces decreasing your total volume.

it won't. see, the marbles do no longer fill the bottle thoroughly, using fact of their shape. whilst the sand is extra, it will make it is way in to all the nooks, crannies, cervices, etc. the internet effect would be under a liter and a a million/2 in quantity.
