I have a friend that is going to have a birthday soon and I want to get him fish *I asked his humans they are ok with it. They just have to find a place for the tank they have* and I want to get him guppies Angelfish and swordtails. Will they all get along fine and are angelfish and swordtails social/schooling fish?

Guppies and angelfish will be fine together. I would pass on the swordtails if I were you, they can get kind of nippy at the long fins of the angels and they also swim a lot faster than either the angels or the guppies which will make the angels nervous and put them under a lot of stress. Stress is not good for tropical fish.

Make sure his humans know that these fish are tropical and need temps in the range of 74-78 degrees. They also must have a good filter on the tank and do regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes to keep the fish healthy and happy.

Sometimes you can get away with this combination of fish. Angels can be nippy once in a while so can swordtails. If you choose a replacement for the guppies you would most likely do a little better. Some suggestions are red eye tetras, serpae tetras, or something similar. Angels aren't big schoolers I've had the best luck with 2 at a time ,swordtails work well in odd #'s 3 or 5.Good luck fish are fun to buy, I love them!

Angelfish like to tear away at the long fins on other fish. They will shred the tails of your guppies and swordfish. Angelfish are considered aggressive. The other fish are not. You may want to think about trying some other fish that will not harm your guppies and swordfish.
