Square-Enix has a game series similar to Pokemon called "Dragon Warrior monsters" You raise a three monster team and some can only be obtained by breeding, its a good series.
Dragon Warrior Monsters: (gameboy color)
Dragon Warrior Monsters II: Tobi's journey and Tara's adventure
Monster Rancer-there's several games available on PS2, I only have Monster Rancher 3, but you raise a monster at a time and see if you can become the most powerful (its hard to achieve S rank)

Pokemon is copyrighted and can't be given up!
But Digimon in some-sort of way I heard is like Pokemon!

I can't think of any games that are a lot like Pokemon, but Digimon might be close and might satisfy you. I don't know, I've never played a Digimon game.
