As you see, you've got to skip the 5th string somehow. How does that work? I look at my guitar, but I'm at a loss on how to strum them all and not hit the 5th.

I'm not sure what song you're trying to play but keep in mind that tabs are the interpretation of the person that wrote the tab. It's not necessarily the way the original artist did it. Tabs are how the tab writer does it. In this piece you could try muting the fifth string with your finger. Instead of holding the string down, just rest your finger on it so it won't make any sound when you strum.
Listen to the original song, or the version that you want to do, and work with it and the tabs to figure it out.

Because all of the notes line up like that on the tab, they would have to be played like a chord. I'm guessing that you would mute the A string (Normally there would be an X on the string if you were going to mute it).
I would say, read the tab like this:
3-3
2-2
0-0
X-X
2-3

hi Anna, Tabs have six lines. those lines are the six strings of your guitar. The numbers on the lines practice you at which be concerned to press down your hands on the strings. stumble on a tab of a song you like. attempt putting your hands on the frets shown interior the tab and taking part in. you will discover that very right now you will understand tab because of the fact you will understand the song you're taking part in actual. sturdy success, Ed

You could do one of two things:

1. when you're pressing the rest of the notes, touch the string so slightly, with your hand on the frets, that you don't press it against the fret but you are touching it.

2. Put your palm on that string when you play it.

im not that good at guitar, but maybe if you just rest a finger on it, not pressing it down it will like mute that string or something (?)

You could play it in a chord. or mute the string. This song is really easy. Try playing this. Its easy but fun. You play every string in this on and like in the one you asked about. Have fun!!
