Talk to your boss, hopefully he/she is understanding.

I'm not sure I understand the details but maybe this will help. If you must leave work early let your supervisor know that there has been a death in the family and you need to go. Your supervisor has family. If your supervisor doesn't understand, do what you must and consider finding other employment. Ask your dad to pick you up from work.

I would explain to work what is happening. Any half-decent boss would give you the day off without question.

As long as you are not planning on calling in sick on a regular basis, don't concern yourself with missing the first day of work.

you are so selfish. this is NOT about you and your work. if being at a job is more important to you than being with family during a time of sadness, then you need to re-evaluate your life. Aside from being a selfish brat, you should tell your new boss what happened and what time you are expected to be away from work. i don't think McDonald's will miss you though.....

Ask your Mom and see what she thinks. She will probably tell you to just go ahead and go to work.

Sounds tough. It can't hurt to ask your boss, but be prepared to tell you mom you can't go unless she wants you to lose your new job

The dead don't care, don't let people put you on a guilt trip for their own hangups.
