I have the cable running from my boombox headphone jack to my computer and have used Audacity but that didn't come with instructions so I'm winging that part. The contents appear to have transferred to 'My Music' of My Documents and also appear to have transferred from there onto the CD's as when I go into My Computer/properties it shows there is something on the CD. However, when I try to play the CD on my CD player and/or on my computer it says the format is wrong. What format do I want and how do I get it. Can I change what is currently in my computer or do I have to start all over again.

Most of these type of programs use their own file format and save as 'projects'. You will need to export as WAV, save these and burn them to your CDR to play in a conventional CD player.
A step-by-step guide is available at:

I have used ‘Magix Audio Cleaning Lab’ and ‘Audacity’ – Audacity is particularly popular since it is free!

You can also download a free PDF version of the step-by–step guide from the download page mentioned above, the guide is complete with diagrams and screen-shots.

start all over again.

Record in .WAV format if you can, it's a lossless format.

Then instead of just copying the files over to CD, use a program like Windows Media Player to burn the CD.

Make sure your running it from the headphone jack into the LINE-IN on your soundcard too.

When you burn the CD. Burn it at a slow rate (adjust it in preferences) 6x or 8x burn speed is good. This will slow things down and help prevent errors.

Before you do any burning try playing the music you've transferred in Windows Media Player and make sure it plays alright.
