Try this... sing "Happy Birthday" and just have fun with it. There is a small role in Dolly named "Ernestina". It's a great acting part and the character is supposed to not be able to sing. Show the directors your comic side and great acting ability and enjoy the process. It just may turn out better than you imagine. Break a leg kiddo!

Ok first find a song that doesn't have that many high pitches or very low pitches. Find a song that you know already. That way you can practice at it. Then find someone in your family or your best friend to hear you sing it w/ background people and music. Try that for about 2 or 3 days. Then try it w/o background people for about a day hen try it w/o any background music or people. Have someone w/ the lyrics in hand that way they make sure you have the right words. Then try it w/ background music. And then after a while you will be able to hear the music and then you will be able to hear the key and try to match your voice w/ it. If you can't that is ok because it takes a lot of practice. Also practice some breathe exercises. Also when you get infront of the audiance you probably get a little nervous which will contribute to your shakey voice. I don't know what else to tell you. Just don't look at the audience straight in thee eye because you will get a little more nervous. This is all I can tell you.

I have a suggestion. I assume you've at least one time seen the auditions for the inane TV show American Idol, and may have noticed those lacking any level of singing talent. I don't know you nor do I equate you to them, but they TRIED at least.
Certainly you'll do your best. Perhaps due to the particular show you audition for, your character may only have to be part of a chorus, or even just "mark" in any singing segment? It isn't exactly a serious drama.
It may not be possible to have a miracle manifest in 2 weeks, but you certainly can work on a particular choice (If allowed) that will best showcase what little singing talent you have to your best advantage. You could take on the challenge of a meeting with a voice/singing coach who should be able to assess your weaknesses and advice you on a course of action.
Again, with no offense I guess I'm curious as to why you'd audition for a musical when you realize your talent limits? In large measure an audition is to gauge your "range" on multiple levels. Of course you may not be asked to sing anything to attain a part in Othello, etc, but if you fear being rejected, perhaps you should seek auditions that broadcast your greatest strengths.

Do your research! Sing a song by a male. Just try anything. If you really want the part since you love to act, don't give up or panic. Just take a deep breath at auditions and try your hardest! That's all that matters! But I suggest a song by Jesse McCartney, from his Beautiful Soul cd. His songs are some very low.

1. pick a song you are comfortable with and is fit for your voice. Not everyone can sing like Mariah Carey and its ok. Think about Jewel, her songs aren't high pitched.
2. practice it without a singer in the background.
3. practice singing in front of people (60% of bad performance is due to stage fright)
4. When the director said, "Do whatever you can." He doesn't mean I expect a grand finale. He just wants to see what he has to work with.
5. Learn breathing techniques. You have no voice if you have no air to push it out with.
6. Just work on pitch with a keyboard or piano.
7. Relax.

Breathing Exercise: Take a deep breath and start to 'sing' number, starting 1, 2 ,3 etc...all on the same note, concentrate on releasing the breath evenly, and count evenly, dont rush when you start to run out of breath. Note the number you end on. Repeat but try to get past that number, keeping in mind all the things mentioned above. This should allow you to keep going for longer off one breath.
To increase your range, just practice your songs maybe slightly higher than you are used to...dont force your voice, just go up little by little and never try to go too high too fast, or without warming up first. Increasing your range takes time, and trying to rush it can damage your vocal chords and undo any progress you have made.
Also, never eat cheese or chocolate before performing, it will wreck your voice. there's no need to cut down on dairy products in your normal diet, but just before a performance or something you want your voice to be at it's best.

Try something like "I Never Do Anything Twice" from "A Little Night Music". If your voice sucks it'll only make it funnier, you can speak a lot of it and you can act the **** off it. I know you can.
Don't give up on your singing voice - I was (ahem) mid-50's, when after all that time of being a crap singer, I did this play where I had to sing at the end... and out of me came the most incredible baritone voice - scared the bejaysus out of me. Everyone else was gobsmacked.

Try one of those songs that sounds like they are talking more than singing. I have a really bad voice too but I can still sing those. Try getting music lessons or getting into your school chorus too, voice lessons and practice help a ton!
Good luck w/ your audition!

Yeah, get a good mic like an audio technica 2020 or a 4050cm5 and plug it into this device called a "tc helicon voice prism" and sing like there is no tomorrow. Or if you are on a tight budget, go down to mcdonalds and get a happy meal and request to have one of those microphones with the spring inside it as the toy.
