I thought I had a best friend as well when I was working and it turned out that once I quit and looked for another job, he stopped being my friend. I called and he didn't answer back. So my experience with friends at work ended badly. Also you could expect a promotion from your friend faster, if he was your supervisor.

i've got had this get up countless activities, especially whilst invited to the place of abode of a colleague or acquiantance. i don't make a variety of of a fuss over it. I understand that they have got positively robotically assumed that i'm Christian as sturdy. If that's their lifestyle to realize this, i does not disrespect them of their place of abode via growing to be a huge deal out of it. i might oftentimes not participate, notwithstanding if, as this might pass in the direction of my ideals. In maximum circumstances, no particularly harm or judgment is implied in a life like announcing of grace. As a Pagan, i'm so attentive to being in this way of project, that i don't enable it hassle me. If announcing grace on the dinner table sped as much as a mini-bible learn, proselytizing consultation, or a interest of "Convert That Pagan!"... properly... i may be none too pleased, and can respectfully, notwithstanding if firmly enable that's recognized.

That's okay, just treat your friend like a BOSS at work. Respect the boss thing and they should too and not ask you to do things they wouldn't ask another employee to do. Just my opinion. I haven't been in your situation.

possible - BUT not the best situation -
will be hard to critique your work without you getting hurt
may be hard to be objective when boss says no to a raise
boss will take flack if they show favoritism to you

your employer could show favoritism..your coworkers could give you trouble.... Just make sure you don't expect favoritism and work as hard as the next guy.. and if you have non-work related issues/problems with your friend, don't bring it to work with you.....and it should work out fine..
Good luck to you............
