I have an ipod shuffle and can't transfer music to it. I would prefer not to buy itunes online. There is no guide book with the ipod, at least not one complete enough to be useful. Is there any way to transfer mp3 and wma music? Answeres on how to do it, or where I could find more complex instructions would be helpful.

you need to download itunes (the software). you don't have to buy from itunes store at all, you can add files to your library from anywhere..

you have to start with itunes download (which is free fom the net - or use the software cd that came with the ipod) and then import the music to your 'library' then transfer then to the ipod..

There are 3 ways.
1. You should have gotten a CD with the ipod shuffle, for installing Itunes. Install that, transfer songs to itunes, transfer songs from itunes to Ipod.
2. Download Itunes for free on the apple website, repeat above.
3. Go to tools, folder options, view all hidden folders and subfolders.
View your shuffle. Click on Ipod_control. Open Music folder. Click on a sub folder. Add music to there, and make sure it is compatible music type.
