would there still be conspiracy theories about it?

Yes, they would just come from the right side of the spectrum.

Examples:

Vince Foster "murdered" - investigated at least three times because the conspiracy theorists kept demanding yet more investigations
Whitewater
Ron Brown "murdered"
The Clinton "death list"
The myth about Clinton declining an offer to hand over Osama bin Laden.
Paula Jones
The nonsense about the FBI torching the Branch Dividian compound in Waco....

In a more current, non-Clintonian vein -

Current emails are circulating claiming that Barak Obama is some kind of closet Muslim, waiting with a devious agenda because we went to a Muslim school for two years while living in Indonesia when young - Indonesia is a Muslim country, so of course there are going to be schools there that are so inclined.

There's no reason to think conservatives would be any more factually inclined if the shoe was on the other foot.

As long as our government keeps secrets from the public for any reason there will be conspiracy theories regardless of which party our president belongs to.because the more things they hide from the public the more suspicious they make themselves look to those who don't trust them.

Yes.

There will always be conspiracy theories surrounding any major event like that.

The difference would have been, our troops would be out fighting terrorism instead of squandering their lives in Iraq.
