I'm a freshman in highschool, and I'm currently on the soccer team, but I was thinking about trying out for the swim team in the Spring. Do you know anything about it? Is it a really competitive sport? I like to swim, but I don't think I'm very good, and I don't know where I could practice.

Depends. Is it something that really interests you?

My experience, I swam all through highschool. We had work outs in the morning (5 am till 7:30) and after school (3 pm till 5). My hair smelled like chlorine all the time. The swim season is one of the longest (from the start of school until March). With practices in the morning, our 'uniform' for most of us was t-shirts and jogging pants.

If you want to do it for fun, join the team and if you have a Jr. Varsity, try to stay on that. It is still VERY compettitive. If you are looking to get any type of scholarship, only the top performers in swimming will see scholarships (it's not a lucrative sport for universities so there are limited funds). If you are good at soccer and are looking for a scholarship, you will probably have a better opportunity there (and yes, you will have more of a life).

Looking even farther in the future, as an adult there are both activities available. There is Masters swimming and there are plenty of adult indoor and outdoor soccer leagues around.

I dont know about your school but some have try outs and some dont, but you being on the soccer team will deffinately help as your already in shape which is a key factor in swimming as you really need to work on your abs and upper body muscles and then your leg muscles, abs are important and upper body is essential and leg muscles because you start off the block you really want to have a good loft and be in the air as long as possible. Anyhow, depending on what team high school swimming isnt that competitive some more htne others, but its not as competitive as if you were swimming on a club team as those are really competitive. If you like to swim then do its theirs not harm in trying, and they usaully practice before or after school for a few hours and then weekends are packed with meets and sometimes missing school.

Swimming is one of the best the exercices a person can ever do. Swimming works out all parts of the body. Not just the leg and arm mucles, but also the jaw, foot, finger, abdamin, and pelivic muscles. I say that you stay in soccer, but also join in on the swimming team. Maybe not to compete, but to get one of the best workouts out there. In about 4 to 6 weeks of being on the swimming team, you'll notice a great increase in your soccer performance. Not only that but, you'll meet really great friends too!

I've been swimming since I was 8 years old and I love it. Highschool swimming is a blast. It is a great opportunity to meet new people. You will become very close with your teammates. Swimming is very competitive, but it is well worth it. I would recommend it to anyone.

i think u should stick with soccer if ur already on the team. i was a freshman and i had a lot of things going on in my life too. i made the basketball team and my friends wanted me to join the football team because i can catch but i didnt because u would have to change classes and work hard again to make the team. so u should just stick with wat u got.
