I'm need to move out of my current state. New England area. I'm targeting Atlanta, GA and San Jose, Ca. I currently have $4000 in checking $2000 in Aux and about $1000 in emergency funds.

I'm gonna have to drive across country south or west. Anyone here ever done this before? I don't have a job lined up but I would like to do that.

Try to take as little with you as possible. The more you have to move, the more expensive it will be. Sell what you can and buy new on the other end. Try to make some connections in the new city before you get there and do as much research on the locations you're interested in. If you can visit each before you pick up and move, that would be the best option. Make sure you have a good map. AAA does a great job and can provide books with things to see along the way. Check out career websites like Monster & CareerBuilder to see if the kind of jobs you enjoy and qualify for are available in the area and start contacting those companies.

Good luck with your move.
