I was grocery shopping earlier today and this man in a wheelchair was planted in the middle of the isle blatantly ignoring the people waiting to get around him. Being in a hurry, I slightly pushed him out of the way so people could get by as well as myself. He began yelling at me so did other shoppers in the isle. What is wrong with this guy? Just because he is in a wheelchair, he gets to inconvience everyone else? And what is wrong with the other able bodied customers? They wanted him out of the way just as much as I did then have the nerve to scold me?

a wheelchair is an extension of someones person. would you have just pushed a grown man standing up out of the way? same principle. basic manners.

Many people would surely disagree but I believe you did the right thing, if it really was a slight push, I can´t see why people would react like that, just because he had the bad luck to end up in a wheelcair it doesn´t mean he has the right to do what he wants without considering other people. Somebody here said that´s basic manners, well I think that the same goes for that man. I don´t think you are a bad person, don´t feel guilty just ignore them. And no I don´t think a wheelchair is an extension of a person, that sounds just weird to me:-S.

Right or wrong, what you did would be similar to pushing someone's car out of the turn lane (assuming that you could do so without causing damage) just because they hadn't seen the light turn green yet.

Your motives may have been well-intentioned, but you violated his space. If you had politely informed him of the situation and he had reacted by yelling, then the other people would have probably supported you or at least been quiet. Since you didn't, you came across as a pushy, selfish, "I'm too busy for others" kind of person.

I certainly understand your plite. I've been in similar situations myself, and I don't think the rudeness has anything to do with the fact that thier handicap, as you're aware there are a lot of rude people who are not handicap. Maybe instead of just pushing the person out of the way you might have faced him and said, excuse me could I get you to move over just a tiny bit so I can get my cart through. If he was rude to you after that, the shoppers would have been on your side, because he would definitely have been in the wrong.

You shoved somebody. Its that simply. If it was anybody else would you push them out of your way? A lot of the people responding here make point about him being treated with equallity. He is not being treated with equality when you make this all about the wheelchair. I know a lot of people who and I quote them are "Lucky to be in a wheelchair". Again do you normally push people who are in your way. Even if you asked somebody to move and they did not would you push them out of your way. I certainly hope not. Yes there are some self centered people with phsyical disabilities but just as there are people without physical disabilites who are self centered. My advice is the next time you come across a similar problem make sure you handle it the same way you would with anyobdy else. That is equality.

We are very delicate of people with special needs. You need to watch Carlos Mencia. If they want to be treated like everybody else, then he should not have gotten mad. If he wants to be treated special then he should have excused himself for acting stupid. You cant have it both ways people! Go ahead give me my negative feedback!
