I was grocery shopping earlier today and this man in a wheelchair was planted in the middle of the isle blatantly ignoring the people waiting to get around him. Being in a hurry, I slightly pushed him out of the way so people could get by as well as myself. He began yelling at me so did other shoppers in the isle. What is wrong with this guy? Just because he is in a wheelchair, he gets to inconvience everyone else? And what is wrong with the other able bodied customers? They wanted him out of the way just as much as I did then have the nerve to scold me?

would you push a non-handicapped person out of the way if he was blocking the aisle?

Ah, so, the point emerges. Remember, folks, it's not politically correct to move people out of the way when they're in the way.

But on the serious side, I think what you did was okay. That man was being a jerk and trying to take advantage of everyone else in that aisle because he was in a wheelchair.

Sometimes people just automatically take up for the "disabled" to feel better about themselves. They will let anybody walk all over them. Just because somebody is disabled doesnt' give them the right to treat others as less than they are. Moving him a little wasn't the most horrible thing you could have done I'm sure. I would have asked him politely, if that didn't work.....Give him a nice shove to the end of the aisle, lol jk!

I would have done the same thing. Some people are just afraid to do anything because nobody ever wants to offend anyone, but if he was in your way and wouldn't move himself then i think it's fine to move him. It's the same as pushing a normal person out of your way, which i do constantly. People need to learn that they aren't the only ones alive.

Sounds like he was being an idiot, but still I dont think you should move someones wheelchair - its kind of like pushing a person out of the way

well first of all, you had no right to move his wheelchair...i mean did you get permission to? did you politely ask him if he can roll over to the side? you gotta remember to respect people's property...it happens but life moves on...he'll get over and so will the other people...lol
