I'm about 8 weeks along and the morning sickness basically lasts all day. This has been going on for two weeks already. I've tried the pressure point wrist bands, ginger vitamins, ginger snaps, ginger ale and saltine crackers. I can hardly eat anything because the thought of it makes me sick or I get sick after I eat. Has anyone had any luck with a particular food or technique??

I wish I could give you an answer here, but I never found anything that worked for me. I was so bad with my firstborn (a girl) that I was admitted into the hospital on 5 separate occassions due to my hyperemisis during the first trimester (in which I lost 40 lbs. - pregnancy was the best "diet" I ever experienced!). They finally had to put me on a med combo that I had to take for the whole rest of the pregnancy with my firstborn.

I did find that drinking bottled water at room temp was less irritating than ice water, and I found that drinking lemonade was one of the least sick-inducing beverages during the worst of it. I'd suggest saltines, but I remember thinking "if one more person recommends crackers, I'm gonna scream", so I won't go there. ;)

Do keep something snackable and drinkable on your bedside table, and have a bit of a nibble before rising. And when you rise, do it sloooowly (unless Peanut's on your bladder, of course). You might have to avoid perfume-y candles, soaps, etc. for a while, too.

Good luck!

At this point you are likely tired of ginger, but I found that candied ginger and ginger tea from an oriental food store helped best. And becoming a grazer. It wasn't so much what I ate, it was eating just about round the clock, a few bites at a time. There was never a lot in me at any one time, but the stomach was never completely empty either. Drink everything at room temperature, nothing hot or cold, so you don't trigger the urp with a major temperature change. I pretty much ate whatever I wanted, but I avoided strong smelling things and greasy or fatty things. I never did get over the smell or sight of meat, and the hubbie ended up cooking that when things got tough. If you can get somebody else to handle the cooking, sometimes the eating goes easier as well. I found I couldn't always deal with the sight or smell of the prep, but I could eat it otherwise. Good luck and hope it improves for you.

i advise u to take rest, eat bite-size pieces of dry toast or crackers before getting out of bed, and have frequent, small meals. Fried or spicy foods, or smells that trigger symptoms of nausea and vomiting, are best avoided

Some women benefit from eating ginger or foods containing ginger, such as ginger biscuits and crystallised ginger, or drinking ginger herbal tea. Acupressure may also help overcome sickness: press a finger or thumb against the inside of the wrist or wear an elastic wristband with a plastic button sewn into it.

I had all day sickness throughout the first 5 months of my pregnancy, and it was not fun. The things that worked for me were eating mints, like the lifesaver peppermint mints haha, those REALLY helped, and I don't even like mints. I chewed on some hard candys, I took them everywhere with me, they get your blood sugar up so you don't get sick. Anything works like jolly ranchers, or anything fruity, like skittles. All I drank was water and gingerale, and I would eat saltine crackers before I even got out of bed in the morning. I kept them on my bedside table. Before you go to bed, try eating some peanutbutter, it really helps. I used to put peanut butter on oreos. It gives you protein through the night so you feel less sick in the morning. Hopefully some of these things worked, these are the only things that worked for me. Hopefully you get over the sickness soon. Goodluck :)

I went through the same thing. It is awful, and I am so sorry you are going through this. Mine lasted for about 3 1/2 months and the only thing I could eat was just plain mashed potatoes. I think it has something to do with the starches. I tried EVERYTHING ginger, didn't help at all. I hope this works for you!!

Every woman is different with their pregnancies. I have never been pregnant, but I have had a number of friends who had morning sickness. You can try different things - or wait it out. You could also see your doctor. There are a number of tricks - but none of them are guaranteed to work - ever.

Good luck, and Congratulations!

I got acupuncture a couple of times and never suffered from morning sickness again. I swear by it.
