I'd say B b/c telomeres are at the ends of DNA, and they're "junk" DNA that doesn't really code for anything, but act as a buffer, sort of. Everytime DNA is copied, a bit of the telomeres are uncopied (b/c primers need someting to "grab onto"), so they get shorter over time.

Those are really strange and confusing analogies...

more like the last 2" of a pencil... It is an extention of the rest not used to write with, but rather just to hold on to while writing, and is thrown away after the rest of the pencil is used.

A, D, or E but the analogy depends on the person making it. It is poorly worded, but I could make aguments for all 3, A being the weakest.

The key feature not addressed in any of the answers is the fact that as the cell replicates the telomeres get shorter until the DNA is no longer viable. is is the cell doomsday device which may be an inhibitor to cancerous growth.

They are all bad answers, but I would guess D.
