Try...
Ornette Coleman-Free Jazz album.
The later John Coltrane (1965-67) is pretty crazy.
Eric Dolphy's own albums are pretty wild, he has a great album thats actually called "Out There".
Peter Brotzman is super crazy and loud.
(Rahsaan) Roland Kirk is one of a kind.
Julius Hemphill is out there.
Dave Douglas album In Our Lifetime is great.
Andre Hill's album Eternal Spitit is a mellow type out there.
Wayne Shorter's album The All Seeing Eye is amazing.
John Ellis album Roots, Leaves and Branches is a great and creative album
James Newton's album the Africian Flower is totally unique and amazing.

I also suggest the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead is way beyond what people categorize them as. Try listening to a 2nd set from Nov of 1989. Really most any show they did is better than you typical bands best night.
