They are the product of their environment, like white girls who won't stand up for themselves.

Well, it comes from the fact that they used to be slaves. And right now, I'm not being racist. And they think they judge a lot of white people...or whatever that they might be prejudiced, but only because of what happened to them back then. But their acting dominating and such, makes us against them all over again...Thus the cycle of racism and prejudice. But most african american women are nice. Just treat them the right way. Like every OTHER person in the world.

not all black women are dominating and pushy, you need to get out more and read a book about Black women in the US and the history of Black women in the US. If you want to know any information about any culture, go to your local library or bookstore and get a book about different cultures. It is that easy!

Because their men are such children they have to be the driving force. If more of the African American male population would step up to the plate and take care of their families the females would not need to be so domineering. GOOD for the strong black females, they get it done!!!

Why do people automatically classify a strong ,intelligent and confident woman as dominating and pushy???

In truth, you really wish you could be the same way.

Domineering. Yeah, I think I have noticed that, too. But, then again, there are white women who are domineering and pushy (my sister comes to mind) so . . . there ya have it. It's not a racial thing, in reality. Not at all. You have to fight your tendency to be prejudice. I know I do.

I am a white female, so I can't speak for our African-American ladies. However, having gone to school, worked with, and lived near those you asked about, there is only one word to describe how I feel about them. I believe that what you feel is dominating is what I view as strength. They are strong and confident. I am sure that there are many reasons why I admire so many of them, but I believe that if you are going stereotype, get it right.

I have never met a pushy dominating black woman.
In fact if I think about it, the only black women I've every met where kind, thoughtful, gracious women.

Social matriarchy. They are the stabilizing force in a significant portion of black homes, and have been raised to dominate as a survival behavior in keeping their families together. Paternal (fatherly)absenteeism is a huge problem in the black community. They've had to fight rape, racism, hunger, abuse, abandonment, and other terrible things just to have a semblance of a normal life other people take for granted. So when you can, cut them some slack. Best of luck.
