I have a 1993 Nissan Sentra. Tonight, after parking, there seemed to be a smell of gas coming from it. Looked beneath, saw very small stain, no visible leaking. But the smell is definitely gas. Do I need a new tank? Can I seal it? How do I find the leak? I know it's a 1993, but there's only 94,000 miles on it and i'd like to keep it. Thanks!

If your tank is leaking, you can DIY with this kit from KBS Coatings.

If right after you fill your tank you see it and smell it but when it gets closer to empty you dont. it is probably a small crack/hole in the upper part
either send to mechanic or if you are mechanicly inclined get under and look for leak if you see one use J.B. weld to fix it or you might need to replace it
tank might cost $100 to replace

If you are going to keep it get a new gas tank but make sure thats what it needs first, could just be a hose leaking a little.

Did you just fill the tank? If you did, and you kept clicking on the gas pump handle, you could have overfilled the tank. If so, the smell will eventually go away.

i assume the hollow is interior the precise of the tank. in case you will get at it, you will desire to be waiting to place a patch on it of a few form. you may choose to scrub off the metallic around the hollow first. incredibly, if the hollow is incredibly small, a drop of Krazy Glue would desire to artwork somewhat nicely. in basic terms drip it onto the hollow and enable it sit down undisturbed for variety of 10 minutes. Then depart it.

It could be a seal. Or it could be the tank.
I bet you can find a tank in the junk yard you can use.

It may be just a fuel line, I suggest you take it to a garage and have them look. Or you can throw a match under and run!!!
