Yes, you have to like what you are doing. Pay is fine but unless it is fulfilling it will be boring, a duty for a living.

Good Question! I've recently given up a great paying job and sold my house so that I could follow what I like to do and not have to do what was increasingly becoming a drudge of a job. I was working 60-70 hours a week but didn't have time for a life. I'm now working for myself...I work when I want and quit when I want.
I didn't know what I wanted to do until someone advised me to think about what I did when I was alone. What did I do just for fun and then to build a business around it. I did and Voila! I'm so much happier and I care about my job because I created it and it's for me, not an employer.

In my life i've learnt that children that follow their dreams and do not get sidetracked, eg', drug's/alcohol or both, also that have had1or 2 nurturing loving parents that have raised their children with a rational view of life and the world we live in, I think is a good start. With out knowing much about yourself, or what drives you, It's hard to say. I tell my teenage neices to have fun but do not forget about finding an interest or something that you love to do, think about your decisions and listen to older people who have lived life and made mistakes,( I wish I had!) unless you are born rich!!!, learn how to handle money when you are young, don't take anything or anybody for granted, plus a very important rule that I've had to learn the hard way, and that is that everything is always changing and time travels very fast, you must make the most of everyday.I'm using my job to get into teaching, I was getting bored and the usual questions at my age,(43). i've now kicked it up a gear and i'm going back to school and i'm already teaching part time wich is always been in my mind as something that i'd like to do and it's happening, you have to get out there and get amongest it.there is an older guy who just graduated from medical school near where i live and he's in his mid 60's, he will not be allowed to operate on people but he's in a practice and is a very good diagnostician from what i hear, and people laughed when they found out that he got into uni', passed his exams and graduated at around 64. I believe that if your passionate about something and want it bad enough that the rest of life will take care of itself.

Everyone cares about some thing. I think its just harder for some of us to remember a time when life was easy and we could just care without fear or reservation. Go back in your mind to a time you cared so much , then take yourself forward, to the place ware it all stopped. It's at that place you will find it again. then take it back. It belongs to you. Lots of luck.

You can't manufacture motivation. It comes from your needs, desires...what's really imporant to you. So you what do you want really BAD, want it bad enough to work hard and overcome obstacles, never quitting? Answer that and you'll know what you care about. Then what you have to do is find work that allows you to pursue that goal. There's no easy answer to your question...never is to a question like that.
