How do you unclog a dishwasher drain and how would I get to it?

The drain in a dishwasher has a cover on it, and sort of looks like a solid filter on top. It's sometimes located in the front on the left. Pull off the top of it and shine a flashlight inside. (I can do that on mine) I could be there is a clog that can be removed easily. Could be a build-up or a peice of something small that came off an item you tried to wash. You may be able to just pluck it out with a long tweezer. If not, and if it is under warrenty call a tech to come out.

Disconnect it from the main drain and insert a wire long enough moving it in and out. Re connect it and run that dishwasher by adding a cup of white vinegar and few spoons of baking soda to clean the residues of grease on that drain. Works for me all the time. Good luck...!
