I don't have a burner on my laptop computer. Is it possible to save music files from a computer onto regular CD and then download them onto another computer?

There are a couple of ways,

If you have an ethernet card, and your other computer is on a network, you can plug in an ethernet cable from your laptop to a router, switch, or hub. Then right-click the folder where your music files are and enable sharing. You can also purchase a "cross over" cable and directly connect the laptop to the other computer's ethernet jack.

Option two, if you have a USB port, just buy a thumb drive for $25 to $50 and transfer the file the same way you would treat a floppy drive.

Option three, buy an external hard drive and plug it into a USB drive. This costs the most but it'll hold a lot and you can take it anywhere too.

There are several good tips on here, such as using USB sticks, but one really smart way to go about it would be to buy a USB 2.0 or better yet, a Firewire external hard drive. Seagate is a brand with a good reputation, but there are others such as Maxtor. Choose one that has a one-touch backup button. You can copy an entire disk's contents from one to another with no hassle at all. A 200 gigabyte model can run about $100, which is very cheap. Any storage medium can fail, so none are perfect, but adding a safety hard drive to your setup can be a serious lifesaver if your main disk fails. Keep that in mind as you consider what to do next. Good luck!

You cannot transfer files from your computer to a CD unless you have a CD writer, which you, i guess, called a burner. The best way would be to use a USB flash drive

Computer1 -> Flash Drive -> Computer2

Or you can connect two computers over network. Or you can use one hard drive as external hard drive (using external enclosure) and then do the file transfer.

If you can put them on the same network then you can transfer between the shared folders with ease.

If they are both on the internet then you can send files via email, via gmail, or a file service like SendthisFile.

I had the same problem and although there must be a simpler solution, in the interest of time I burned all my MP3 files to a DVD and then transferred them to the new computer.
