No, because in this case queer means "different". This is a cross between tag and football. Whoever holds the ball is the queer and everyone else tries to tackle that person. This is a fundamental playground game that teaches kids how in life if you are different you are going to be brought down in society.

To play, bravely stand up on a chair in lunchroom and point out straight guys from your gym class who play Smear the Queer. Loudly announce to all females present their physical inadequacies in great detail. As the girlish laughter rings around the room, run like hell or prepare for a rumble. The STQ fans will most likely want to do the latter because there is nothing they like more than getting close to other sweaty boys.

If I remember correctly, you're talking about a junior high era gym class game. It's easy enough to have the same game but call it something a little less oppressive.
