Hi, cleaning a computer is a very important thing to do . Clean either
your hard disk, by running the disk cleanup wizard so as to accelerate your system performance, fOR accelarating your comp, your can also run the disk defragment found in your hard disk properties. About the fan, i think your friend means the CPU fan, found inside the cpu, just above the microprocessor, you can remove it and clean it with a brush.. bye bye

You can "clean" your pc and you can Clean your PC.

To "clean" your pc, make sure you have anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewalls active, updated, and running.

To clean your PC, unplug everything, take it outside. take the cover off (usually by screws on the case in the back) and set the cover aside.

!!!!VERY IMPORTANT HERE!!!!!

You must "discharge" the static electricity by touching the bare metal part of the case (usually the bottom of the case.) This is EXTREMELY important.

I would do that when I had the can of compressed air in my other hand as this will discharge the can as well.

Now, take the can and the little "straw" or stem and blow compressed air all over the computer. Make sure you are not too close and use the can as the directions state. Short bursts, about 3-6 in away from the places. You will see some fans and metal fins that look like radiator fins. This is usually where dust builds up and this is where thermal issues can build up.

Blow everything out and off and use a vacuum to get the big stuff from the bottom of the case.

When finished put everything back together, plug everything back in and you will be ok.

I usually recommend to my clients they do this every 6 months for normal or every 1-2 months if they live in dusty area.

Hey Dudette,

There are two types of clean-up. Physically and logically.

Physically, you need to open it at least 1 time per year to see what it looks like inside. You may have to do it more often. Because of the fans and cooling, and electricity, dust will collect inside of your computer. If you leave it on, depending on your environment, you may even have some critters making nests in your computer. It is usually warm and cozy in there.

Take a vacuum cleaner and suck as much of the junk out. If you need some compressed air to blow it out, make sure that you do not spin up the fans. While it sound cool and looks cool, you will ruin them. You need to put a pencil, stick, or something in each of the fans to not spin them up while blowing air in them.

Now if your friend means "logically" the too are correct. Most people need to think of cleaning their computer logically like doing laundry or flushing the toilet. YOU HAVE TO ALWAYS BE DOING IT. Now, if you do not know how, ask him/her.

We can help with specific thing, however, there are books written about this.

I guess he means that clean your PC by using "Disk Clean Up" to delete some unnecessary files on you computer.

You can clean your computer literally and not using a damp cloth, but instead a paint brush. To prevent damaging some parts on a computer you can get rid of your static charge on your body by holding on to the computer casing. Just make sure that you pull all the cables on your computer before discharging your static electricity on you body.

If it suffering from overheating or excessive noise from the fans (another symptom of overheating) then get your vacuum cleaner and using the finest attachment on your hose vacuum the inside of your PC. Pay particular attention to the fans and air vents. Take care, though, not to nudge any components.

If he meant spyware/trojans/viruses then this is a completely different question. Search for the above terms in Yahoo Answers, paying particular attention to best answers, and you find a lot of good advice.

The order of the system has various ISP, and data demands.
Depending on how your computer works for you, there are
yearly upkeep services that should be tested, and accurate.
We do not have the perfect data flow online, there are larger
computers, and there is where these parts should be updated.
We have to keep the fan, the liquids, the transistors, all the
stressed parts in new upkeep. http://www.homecomputer.com

turn it off. then using a can of cleaner designed for computers, blow everything out of the keys, any openings, and remove anything that just slips in such as the battery, and blow the compartments out.
dust can build up and can cause problems with functionality of any moving parts, such as keys, where it can settle. you'll also want to clean the monitor surface, with and eye-glass wipe, not a spray.
any spray must say it can be used safely on computers. don't use any liquid spray which can drip into the computer. such things as windex, 409, water, etc will ruin any electrical components by causing them to short out and burn up.
use only approved cleaners designed for use around computers and electrical connectors.

Well internally I would suggest you never clean your PC as you leave it at high risk of static charge.

Maybe he meant clean the drives such as running:

Disk Defragment
Disk Clean up

I would ask him for clarity...

I would only ever clean the fan with a damp cloth to remove dust personally.
