Someone told me that after the Series 3 finale it will be taken off the air. Is this true? Thanks for the help!

P.S. Please don't say "good riddance", "I hope so," or "I don't know." These are not answers!

It's not true. The co-creator said that they want to stop the series around 100 episodes according to scifi.com. That is roughly 5 season. They don't want to stay on the air and wear out there welcomes like the X-files did on Fox.

But they are not gonna stop after season 3..unless its yanked by ABC. Go to scifi.com to read the artical. Hope I could Help.

I read that Cuse end Lindelof were negotiating with ABC as to an end date for the show... not a cancellation, but a date when they bring the show to a logical conclusion and wrap up the story lines (probably not the end of season 3, but maybe the end of season 4). While the ratings have slipped some this year, it's still a big hit. They want to have a specific end date for show so they can write to that end date and have the mysteries wrapped up in the proper way. They don't want the series to go on and on as long as the ratings are ok, because to stall it that long would mean dragging it out even more. They would then lose ratings and the show would get abruptly canceled without satisfactorily resolving the mysteries (a la Twin Peaks, if you remember that from years ago). So they are just negotiating with the network when the show will end (and hopefully it will still be going good at that time). I'd rather see it go out strong than just limp away and I think the writers would too. Lost is great... but by its nature, it has to have a limited run.

No, but they will start planning how to wrap up the show. The producers have said they are going to try to have 5 seasons. The first season was the introduction, the second was about the hatch, the third is about the Others, the fourth is supposed to answer a lot of reamining questions, and the fifth will wrap it all up. I read that on lost-tv.com

Not getting cancelled they planned out the date for the series finale so they can write out the story and answer the questions in a timely matter

They are not cancelling it right now, but you won't see it get past like 2009, maybe 2010. They have already said that they never planned for it to be on for that long. They actually recognized the fact that when old shows try to do something to revamp it and make it fresh, they really wind up killing the show, and they want to avoid that at all costs.

I looked on the ABC official website and there is nothing listed about a cancellation. And as popular as the show is, I can't imagine them pulling the plug on the first show to really get them any ratings. So I would say it's just the rumor mill.

No they're not canceling after 3, they're just mapping out the show so they know where to go w/ the story. They have not said when the last season will be.

No, but I have heard that the creators of the series are deciding on when the end of the series will occur so they don't stretch the show overlong and so that they have an end in sight to give the show more direction.

NO they set an end date so the writers could time for a story ending but it won't be anytime soon they pretty much have a timeline so they know when they have to make everything make sense so they just throw something random together if they are eventuaslly cancelled. pretty much they wil decide when to end it not the network

It is supposed to last at least one more season after this one.

The next season is supposed to have all of its episodes airing one week after another, the way that 24 is doing it this season. People were complaining about having to wait between episodes and seeing so many repeats.
