Doesn't it seem strange that she is more concerned with kids on another continent?

Thank you very much. She was born in Mississippi in the Delta. That is one of the poorest places in the country. Her "roots" aren't in Africa, she never went there until she was rich. Her roots are in Ms. Everyone raises hell about the way black people were treated in the south but when it comes down to helping their people the take their money out of the country. Go figure. It's not just rich black people either, whites do it too.

Children in Africa would actually appreciate what she is trying to do. Africa continues to be exploited by european nations, who take from it but puts nothing back into it. The United States actually has more than enough money to build schools, it just choses to waist it on war.

Oprah visited these girls a few years back and impressed by how smart the girls were. They just didn't have a school to go to. She promised them that she would come back and do something about. On like most, Oprah kept her word and built them a school. Its Oprah's money and if wants to be a school in Africa, that's good.

I say that she should of done both, help the ones that need it there and here. But hey we're talking about Oprah, a self described Aunt Jemima. She's only doing this to make herself look good, and it also helps to get more for her tax return. The more she gives out in charities, the more she gets back from good old Uncle Sam.

Whatever, why shouldn't Donald Trump build a school in Harlem, This woman took her own money and had that school built, so shut up.

Those kids in Africa need a lot more than what we need here. Many kids here are unappreciative and take things for granted. Some kids in Africa barely have fresh water let alone colleges.

Personal I don't care what her "inner motives" are.

I'm just glad that those girls are getting the food & education that they need & want.

& BTW Oprah, has done more then enough for the U.S.A.

No. She's done a lot here. She said she was sick of going to schools in the US where the kids asked her for ipods and sneakers. When she went to Africa, the kids asked her for school uniforms and textbooks. She invested in the education of kids who want it and value it.

The continent is Africa, which is in much worse shape than Harlem.

Yes, charity begins at home, we have plenty of needy people here in the good old USA, plenty of homeless children too, if I adopt a child it will be an American child.
