Why did Al Gore not want the absentee ballots counted?

Was it because a majority of absentee ballots are from military members, of which a majority vote Republican? Or was there something else?

Why do some people who leave answers change the subject.

The question is about Gore not wanting the absentee ballots counted...nothing else.

John449...this is a common talking point among President Bush hating Democrats. Everytime they begin to bash the President, they bring up the fact that they "feel" he stole the election in Florida, as well as Ohio.

I just figure that since I see it come up so often, I might add some insight in to things.

Explain something to me please........Just how do you go about "stealing" an election? Did W fly around the state and stuff the ballot boxes that are supposed to be under lock and key?

The absentee ballots were not ALL Gore did not want recounted! He only wanted districts in major metropolises recounted. Bush's position was if we are going to do that, why not recount the entire state?

The Democrats made a bad gamble by marketing their campaigns only in major cities. The problem with this is that while ideally targeting major population centers gives Democrats the edge, not enough urban citizens actually register to vote. They may express liberal tendencies and favor the Democrats but they do not vote when it really counts. This means Republicans can still beat them by including rural voters and land owners and the third of registered voters who are urbanites.

That's my spin on this.

Also, Bush stole no election in Florida. In 1996, voters selected Jeb Bush as their governor. In 2000, voters selected Brother George to be their President. So low in esteem did they hold Bush that in 2002 they reelected Jeb as their governor and voted for W with a clearer majority in 2004.

I mean. . . look at the track record of Florida voters. I think Gore was trying to steal the election in Florida and failed.

human beings say that because of the fact Gore actually had the main votes, yet Bush had the main electoral votes. If the splendid courtroom hadn't stopped the recounts, it fairly is conceivable that Gore could have taken Florida, and hence had greater electoral votes. So technically, the splendid courtroom stopped the recounts on the element whilst George Bush had Florida.

Gore only wanted the ballots recounted from districts that vote Democrat, He should have had all the votes recounted from every district, including all the abstenee ballots.

Of course if you or anyone believes that the President stole the election and was not actually elected by the Electoral college, then He should be entitled to another term in office as he has only actually been elected for one :D

You know the answer as well as all good wittle neocons do. It wasn't Gore's fault, "Clinton did it." BTW, can you supply a link to confirm your remark that a majority of military in Florida would vote republican? A creditable one?

the democrats used felon votes, tried to stop the military votes, used magnifying glasses, counted nics, paper imperfections, undocumented aliens votes, voted twice, and still couldnt get enough votes. also called the election early for gore to try to steal it.

florida came back the next election and gave bush a 5% victory.

and thats a memo

Wasn't that election in 2000? Isn't it now 2007? How is this relevant?

Maybe it has something to do with the supreme court of Jeb Bush FL handing his brother the election.

GASP! No, no, no!! It's all Bush's fault! He's to blame for everything! /sarc

Funny, isn't it, how the Reps are accused of having no respect for the military, yet it's the Dems who repeatedly make their lack of respect very clear.

Have a great evening!
