I am 21 and my husband and I want to have a baby with in the next 2 years. The only problem is that I have irregular periods. I have about 4-5 a year.I am not on any kinds of medications and I don't have an eating disorder. I weigh 105 lbs. I have always been underweight.Could it be that I am uderweight and that's why my periods don't come regularly? Also my husband deploys alot and I am always worried about him.Could the stress be causing this? Also when I do have my periods I become light headed and sometimes faint. Does anyone know what may be causing all of this? Is there any kind of vitamn or supplement I can take to make it regular? I'll take any help I can get. Please just let me know what you think. Thanks

Yes, being underweight can contribute to irregular periods. Is your diet healthy? Do you exercise a lot? Endurance athletes sometimes miss periods, so this is why I ask. It could also indicate a medical problem, such as a thyroid problem. I don't think the stress is enough to cause you to miss your periods. You should probably be taking a multi-vitamin to help with this. But, most importantly, you should see your doctor, especially if you are trying to conceive. You could also check out this site for possible articles on this... I go here for health info.

I had the same symptoms as you. I ended up going to the doctor and they told me that I had a cyst on my ovary about an inch and a half round. Thats why I had difficulty with pregnancy. I would go see a doctor if you havent already.

it could be stress, and also for that secound part i wouldn't know. but i know stress has a big deal to do with it. i was in a class at school that taught about health problems and it was mostly girls in that class so that was a topic that came up. but surely for that secound part i would see a doctor if you havn't already.

Ask the doctor. You may have a hormonal imbalance of some sort.

You sound like you are underweight and anemic.

Get thee to a doctor, post haste.

Yes it could be weight, yes it could be stress, You also sound as though you may be anemic.
Please, see your gynocologist. He/she should prescreen you before you begin to try to concieve anyway. Discuss this with him/her. He/she should be a partner in your planned pregnancy.
