Good question! I answer this all the time, from men who enjoy watching 'shemale' porn and worry that they're gay, from the man who has a panic attack because he thought a transsexual was attractive.

The plain fact of the matter is that you are gay if you are a man and if you are sexually attracted to MEN. A man, we can all agree, does not look like a woman. A man cannot be reduced down to the fact that he has a penis; it's the entire package- the voice, the body, and yes, the genitals.

A pre-operative (or even post-operative) transsexual woman is not a man. Pre-operative transwomen do, indeed, have penises, but can a man who is attracted to her be considered gay? He doesn't like men- he likes women with penises. Currently, in our society, we don't have words for people who like transsexuals, because they aren't quite men, and they aren't quite women. You can't quite say he is straight (although that's probably what he overwhelmingly is), but he is definitely not gay, although most people do erroneously consider them to be gay. We just don't have the terminology yet. I myself use the word 'queer'.

And I quite love transsexual and transgender individuals. I'm more attracted to FtM's, but MtF's are very attractive to me as well, and I still haven't figured out how to explain to people that I'm oriented towards them, except to say that I'm, once again 'queer', or just spell it out in plain words. It's sad that I and others have to do that and defend our sexual orientation, but that's the way it is.

If you've pretty much lived your life as a female, identify with girls, etc. then I'd say your transgender. You should definitely seek what is called a "gender therapist", which is a mental health professional that specializes in transgender issues. Usually after about 3 months of sessions with your gender therapist, they will give you written permission to see an endocrinologist (a doctor who specializes in hormone treatment), and then your endocrinologist will give you a prescription for hormone replacement therapy. Do you really feel that deep down you're a young woman, and want to transition in order to feel complete as a woman? If so... then yes, you're a transgender and should do something about it, transition.

Well I guess it depends. For a guy to attracted to very feminite transsexual MTF he would be straight for the most part. I have seen some really effimanate transsexuals that you reall can't tell. However if a woman is attracted to MTF transsexual I might see where that person may be gay. It all depends though. Some people find it interesting or funny to see a man in drag and they could easily be straight or whatever.

No, I don't think so. A transgender takes on attributes of the opposite sex. A transgender may have the same attributes that you are attracted to in women.

There are both men and women in the transgender community. If you are a man and you are atrrcted to a transgender man, would you be identified as a gay man anyway?

If you are a stright man and you like women, would you find her attractive? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harisu

people of all types are attracted to each another due to friendship or being intimate. whatever they're free to do whatever they like.

we're all humans and we need friendship and companionship. they and we'rwe free to do whatever we like as long as its not at anyone's expense?

getting to know them has nothing wrong as I've friends who are and are also being " professional ". I'm their friends and am not their patrons but just friends. for they dont ask to be who they are and also not by choice but under uncontrollable circumstances.

friends comes in all shapes and sizes and sex too . . .even transgender too.

we've been on holiday trip and sharing room . . . nothing happens as long as we make things clear and respects are accorded respectively.

People can be attracted to transgendered. Omnisexuals are attracted to anyone, regardless of male/female. It's not based on whether or not they are a boy or girl, like bisexuality is.

How to put this... I have never dated a gay man in my life. I had surgery at 19 and married one of my old HOMOPHOBIC friends from highschool. Granted, he is no longer homophobic as his friendship with me taught him that homosexuals aren't bad people (he was raised in a very... extremely homophobic church).
At any rate, you can see me at www.myspace.com/winterlaurel - you can see that I LITERALLY do not look masculine at all. *shrug* Some do look masculine, sure... Does that make them less of a woman? No. GENDER is in the brain. SEX is in the pants.

2 things: Sexuality has to do with biological attraction. Gender has to do with the person's feelings and how they identify themself as man or woman or inbetween.

Males attracted to males are homosexuals homogender oriented.
Females attracted to females are homosexuals homogender oriented.

Males attracted to females are heterosexuals heterogender oriented.
Females attracted to males are heterosexuals heterogender oriented.

Males attracted to transwomen (males) are homoSEXuals heteroGENDER oriented.
Females attracted to transmen (females) are homoSEXuals heteroGENDER oriented.

Males attracted to males & transwomen (males) are homosexuals bi-gender oriented.
Females attracted to females & transmen (females) are homosexuals bi-gender oriented.

Males attracted to females & transwomen (males) are bi-sexuals heterogender oriented.
Females attracted to males & transmen (females) are bi-sexuals heterogender oriented.

While you should always love the person you are with and not objectify them. Physical intimacy and sex organs are indeed very important part of a mature adult relationship. When transwomen call men who do not want to date them transphobic, it is an inaccurate assessment of the man. And continues the negative stigma of homosexuality. And it detracts from trans-rights as they alienate those who would be supportive of them if not for the insistance to disregard biological facts of sexuality. He may only be heterosexual heterogender oriented and not capable of being in a relationship with a transwoman. He may not be biologically or mentally attracted to the male sex, so it is only natural for him to desire female women. Of course there are men who date transwomen and that is because they are comfortable with being a homosexual and heterogender oriented person.

A person who truly would be able to fall in love and be in a relationship with any person despite their gender identity and sexual organs would be bisexual or pansexual (depending on their preference or lack of).

We shouldn't let feelings get in the way accurate facts or the science of biological sex and sexuality. Yes there are intersex people as well. Technically a person who dates an intersex person is bi-sexual regardless of how the intersex person identifies. And two intersex people with the same chromosoal abnormality & gentalia would be heterosexual! :)
