He came on the national scene during the last Democratic National Convention as the newest next best rising star of the Democratic Party. A skinny guy with a funny name, black father, white mother, well educated and speaks with the soul of a poet. He's young, vibrant, well liked and presently a US Senator from Illinois, Abe Lincoln country. He is presently undergoing an exploratory study to see if he has a shot at running for President in 2008. In any case...he has the best shot at VP. We'll have to wait and see. It's still early but to date he has made great headway. And, he has that type of background that fits well with the peculiar American public...they love the underdog.

Barack Obama is a Democratic United States Senator from Illinois. He recently announced that he would be filing paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission to establish a Presidential Exploratory Committee for the 2008 presidential election. He is currently very popular in the media. If elected in 2008, he will become the first black U.S. President.

EDIT: I wonder why I got a "thumbs down"...I provided correct, concise information about Mr. Obama. Perhaps the person who gave this answer a "thumbs down" is upset that I was objective and didn't give my own subjective opinion, or throw around any snarky insults.

He is a young senator and if elected would be the second most politically inexperienced president we have had in the US.

He is unusually well spoken, and has all of the qualities of a leader. Republicans hate him as he tends to lean to the progressive politics rather than conservative politics.

Barack Obama is a liberal senator filling out his first term...I think from Illinois. He is a great public speaker and delivered the keynote address at the democratic convention in the 2004 elections. He is planning on running for president, and he would be a great president except that he doesn't have much experience so that is what the republicans will focus on. Also, he is African American and many people, including myself, believe that he will be the first african american president.

He is a Senator, with not much experience, who looks good and talks in a way that appeals to the naive and Liberals. He hasn't done much except talk, but in America, if you say the right things, some people will follow. A lot of people think he has a shot at being President, mainly because they want a Liberal and/or a Black President.
