what was the 'rules' your doctor gave you?
I would just call him--if you go now you may end up getting sent back home.

my rules are when my water breaks or contractions are 5 -6 minutes apart for an hour.

Im 39 weeks and 3-4 dialalted/60% thinned as of my appt. last Thursday.

I've had the contractions this whole past weekend--but Im still here, lol

good luck!

All deliveries are different.

Your second delivery will no doubt move much faster than your first (hours of labor, instead of days).

Your doctor will tell you when you should go... but normally that is when the contractions are 5 min apart, or your water breaks. Then again, if you live 2 hours from your hospital, or there are medical reasons to go sooner, that will figure into your doctor's calculations.

Call your Dr. and ask. Do you know how far from the hospital your Dr. lives? He/She may need more time to make it there than you. 10 minutes apart, timing from the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next? Or ten minutes in between contractions? Are you having strong or just mild contractions? Has your water broke yet? If your water has broke, leave immediately for the hospital. If not, and you are not in any or much pain call your Dr. and give them a heads up. They may want you to leave immediately or tell you to wait until the contractions are five minutes apart. Five minutes, meaning the beginning of one contraction to the beginning of the next contraction. Regardless, Good Luck and congratulations :)

5-1-1 rule. 5 minutes apart, lasting one minute long, consistant for hour. Doesn't get better when changing positions. Then go to the hospital.

take a cue from your first baby. the second one tends to come a little faster (tho not always). i think the 5-1-1 rule mentioned is good to go by. (unless you're in a lot of pain, then go when you feel you need to, or if your water breaks)

Call your doctor, with your second pregnancy and every subsequent pregnancy things tend to move alot faster. You don't want to end up going to the hosp. and sitting there forever so if you call the doctor and tell them what is going on, they will call before hand so you get right in. Congrats.
