At my son's highschool (public) they had all the kids fill out a questionaire regarding the type of people they are attracted to, with questions such as eye color, hair color, hobbies, etc. He said it seemed like a dating thing, a mom told me it's to help the kids fit into their own social circle. It was optional & they have to pay $1 for results - I never heard anything about it. Should I call the school to check it out? What do you think? Have you seen this before? Concerned Mom.

Yes, I think you are right to question any information-gathering effort. This is the day of the Patriot Act, after all, but do contact the school and/or teacher to get specifics before you launch. Students and their parents often get things wrong, and rumors are often the result. But I agree, the social-profiling aspect of this has a real smell to it.

I think it sounds odd. I'd be concerned too. I don't think kids should be taught to pick friends based on looks and lists of hobbies. Follow up!

Nope. It sounds like a student made thing to either make money for themselves or raise money from school. Definitely student idea.
