why do people from other countries dislike americans?

Question

I asked a question earlier about whether people from other countries thought americans were fat. Well, included in one of the answers was a comment that people from other countries have alot of negative things to say about us Americans...Why?????

To them we represent a free country, 2 cars at every home, everyone has everything, lots of jobs, money. On the good side of the coin, & I just scratched the surface. On the other we represent a country that thinks they run & can do whatever they want to. We can attach any country we want is they they see us. I hope I helped U some at least.

I have narrowed it down to 3 reasons for me personally:
1) Your President is terribly unpopular as is the subsequent war in Iraq.
2) Americans who say that USA is the best country in the world. I think it's a nationalism that is instilled from an early age. Still doesn't make it right.
3) When people criticise they are called jealous (trust me, there will be an american on this very thread dismissing any criticism as jealousy) because of the freedom you have. We have the same freedoms in western Europe. Why would we be jealous?

It's not all Americans. Just some.

Blues man: My family has 3 cars and a house in suburban London. I have a career. Jealousy is NOT the reason. Really, I want to cry. You need to stop thinking this. It makes you seem so arrogant which will make people dislike America more.

i think the reason is, USA wants to dominate in the whole world. I appriciate the development of politics and culture. But on the othere hand they are really ignorant (i have been there) and really short minded(not all of'em). And they have some stuck-up attitude towrds other nations. It was may be hidden but now all the world know this. Don't feel warm atmosphere when I am surrounded by them. Something chills!

Unfortunately the Media is the cause of most of this. They portray the U.S. as the evil of the world. A lot of times the entire U.S. is based on it's current government and that is all. I am an American living in Europe and I have found that once people get to know you personally, they tend to change their minds about the negativity of the U.S. that they see on T.V.

I am American and I hate most of them!!!!!!!!would rather be in the barn talking to my animals.Most Americans are self centered,RUDE,and have I me syndrome.Have no respect for others these days.Just look how they act on the road, in a big hurry to get no where.We need to wake up America I dont thing are forefathers would be all that proud of the way we act.

I think its because many other countries don't have the same freedoms and rights that we get and are jealous. Instead of trying to change their own situation, they blame us for all of their problems. Just my opinion.
