I would say that it is okay to have an occasional glass of wine. I think most doctors agree with that statement. We've all heard stories of women who have drank their way through pregnancy and ended up with a perfectly healthy child. And then there are instances of women who drink during pregnancy and their child suffers for it. Who really knows?

It really boils down to this: Would you be able to handle it, if down the road, something ended up wrong with your child? I swear I am not trying to scare you, but that's how I look at alcohol during pregnancy. If something was wrong with your child, would you think back to those glasses of wine and wonder if it was worth it? Or if that was what did it? Those are things you have to decide for yourself. I personally would LOVE to have a glass of wine during my pregnancy, but my fearful nature will simply not let me. And I'm better for it. In a couple of months, I will be able to drink anything I want. That's the way I try to look at it.

I hope you make the right decision for YOU. Good luck!

It has been proven by many tests that 1 glass of wine or beer a day, not more than 4 times a week, does NOT harm the fetus at all.

I even have heard it too yet purely some medical doctors say this and others say there s arisk nonetheless. i dont be attentive to why wine could be better or safer than different alcholic drinks so i wouldnt risk it. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome can take years to look and is a "hangover for all times". the indications reason interior the new child social issues, behavioral issues, hence issues at college and in a protracted time life and artwork. additionally some could have violent and anti-social dispositions. the outcomes could be devastating. Sorry 2 lecture besides the undeniable fact that it fairly is fairly that severe. inspite of the incontrovertible fact that I pass over having a tumbler of pink wine now and then, it fairly is sooo not properly worth doing that to my infant. we can shake off the fefcts of alcohol in a short quantity of time (as long weren't addicted) yet an unborn infant in-utero won't be able to. As for the international locations youre pertaining to, i'm guessing on ewould be France. properly I didnt be attentive to they drank wine mutually as pregnant yet it fairly is surprisingly dumb. and those examine must be deceptive and representative of purely a small group of human beings. additionally submit to in ideas some kinds of fetal alcohol syndrome can take years to take place--like social and behavioral issues. An das for infants studied upon, those French infants around age 5 already had greater liver enzymes bc they drank wine with their mom and dad. information alcohol is relatively not for new child's or toddlers' livers.

My Dr. said that I could have one glass of wine like with dinner, now that I"m in my third trimester. He did however recommend you don't make it a routine thing and limit it to one glass. I was asking about a glass of wine with Christmas dinner, with my family and stuff and he said it was OK.

There is debate on this issue. You'll get varying answers from people, including the professionals. Personally, I think it is best to fall on the side of cautions and avoid anything like that. I'm really low on iron and I had a friend tell me her midwife had her drink Guinness beer to up her iron levels during pregnancy!! I'm not about to go and do that. I think it is better to be safe than sorry.

This is what we know: Alcohol can have a devastating impact on a fetus, more specifically on the development of its brain. What we don't know: how much alcohol can actually have an impact. This is why most professionals advise pregnant not to take any alcohol at all.

- Don't believe everything you hear, research is the best advice to that question,.. all the MEDICAL research I have reviewed simply states there is no safe amount of alcohol a mother can ingest while pregnant. sure, some women have drank while pregnant and the baby was healthy, it is entirely up to you to make that decision of what risks to take. Here is the CDC website on fetal alcohol syndrome.
