I have NY medicaid through my mother(she lives in New York). However, I go to college, work for, and live on campus in the state of New Jersey...is it possible that I can use my NY state medicaid in New Jersey??? I tried getting a NJ state one and they denied me b/c of my mom's NY residency. What if something happens to me, or (God forbid) I get into a car accident? Will I have to cross over to the NY state? I want to go to planned parenthood for a check-up but I am clueless.

No..can't use the Medicaid program of one state in another...they don't like paying other state's mandated obligation.

What will happen to you if, God forbid, something happens to you? You'll get a medical bill to pay like the millions of Americans with out insurance...even without Medicaid. As for your check-up looks like you will need to got PP in NY. Don't PP clinics do some of that for free?

And yes, Medicaid laws in practically every state are strict...and they should be...it's your taxes dollars after all.

Your best bet would be to call Medicaid in New York for the answer.
