Let me preface this by saying that I am in no way prejudiced as I myself am a transsexual. One of my close friends is an african american lesbian and even she agrees with my view on this.
Hypermasculenity and homophobia seem to be a little more common in the african american community. As such is the case, I feel that fewer african american lesbians are comfortable being open about it. Most of the african american lesbians I have met in my time have lived in an area conducive to a relatively safe "coming out".

Didn't you get a map to the homes of african-american lesbians? I have heard two are in Chicago, six reside in New Orleans and at least five are in Los Angeles.
