The colonies used tools imported from England. The earliest craftsmen brought basic tool kits for the trades they practiced. while Early immigrants were given lists of practical things axes, hatchets, adz, saws, nails hammers, froe, wedges. guns, lead bullet molds. augurs, planes, spades, hoes, picks, plowshares, in short; what they would need to clear the land and to erect the buildings and fences, they would need to survive. this list could go on because there many tools, some very specialized, needed to practice a broad variety of trades needed to sustain any comfort and to expand their foothold in the new world.

On the matter of firearms in the early period the principle sort of gun was called a"matchlock" of large cal. (68/72) shoulder fired musket. Look it up. They had in fewer numbers muskets of the same general appearance as the matchlocks but with a newer ignition system often called a doglock. There were some few pistols "wheel lock, dog lock, snaphanse," were the ignition systems for these. The shoulder fired weapons were used both for defense and hunting. the rest of the equipment was a bag carried across the body with their small supplies called by later periods a" possibles bag" or hunting pouch. A hatchet and a couple of knives of various sizes. Her are some names of things do a Google image search on them. That should about cover it. Even until well after the American Revolution, all steel, steel tools and most things made of iron were imported from Brittain.
