First you need to set up an equation for the average.
(8+5+x)/3 = 35 ------ the three days added together, divided by three should equal the average of 25 animals that he saw.
(8+5+x)=75 ----- multiply both sides by 3 to get rid of the fraction.
11+x=75 --- combine 8+5 and then solve for x by subtracting.
x=64 animals on day 3
