The average is the sum of the days divided by 3.

Let n be the number of animals on the third day:
(8 + 5 + n) / 3 = 25

Multiply both sides by 3:
8 + 5 + n = 75
13 + n = 75

Subtract 13 from both sides:
n = 62

So Marshall saw 62 animals on the last day (to average 25 animals).

First you need to set up an equation for the average.

(8+5+x)/3 = 35 ------ the three days added together, divided by three should equal the average of 25 animals that he saw.

(8+5+x)=75 ----- multiply both sides by 3 to get rid of the fraction.

11+x=75 --- combine 8+5 and then solve for x by subtracting.

x=64 animals on day 3

(this seems like alot, are you sure you wrote the question correctly?)
