Mass retaliers like Target, Kohls, Kmart have health insurance for part-timers. Usually they are offered to you between 3 to six months after you become employed, and some companies have a minimum number of hours you can work (usually 18-20) in order to get those benefits.

I know you put starbucks...but that's the best of the best. I've worked at a lot of places, and starbucks you only have to work 20 hrs a week and you get dental, vision, and medical all for like 25 out of each paycheck. It was amazing having that kind of coverage. It's good coverage too not crappy. You get so many other benefits at starbucks too. Free pound of coffee a week 30% off of everything, even discounted items...I miss working there, thinking about working there again part time.

Wal*Mart.
I worked there for two years as a part time associate. I believe you have to wait 6 months to a year and then you can get benefits. However, I did not like working there much. Nor did anyone else there that I knew of. Unless it was the store manager. I'm just sayin'...

As long as you work 30 hours a week they are obligated to offer you some type of medical insurance and other benefits. The object is to get them to give you 30 hours a week! Most will give you 10-20hours and that is how most retail stores operate unless your a manager.

UPS is the best that comes to mind. I have a friend that has his own business but maintains a part time job with UPS in order to keep his family insured and he gets excellent benefits.

I'm a Recruiter for a hospital and as long as you work a minimum of 24 hours per week you are eligible for benefits. This is the norm for the majority of hospitals in our area - Kansas City, Missouri. Also, many people think you have to be in patient care position to work in a hospital, but you don't. We have many openings for non-patient care personnel too, i.e., clerical, service and technical, etc. Check out the local health care organizations in your area! Hope this helps.
