what do i do when my male and female hamsters are fight and they both have scratches on them
i just got the male
i wanted them to have babies

Hamsters are territorial. You should have gotten the male first and added the female. You can try taking out the hamsters and completly changing the bedding and rearranging the tank, and then putting the male in for awhile and then the female.
Also are you positive they aren't both males? Sometimes their testicles wont drop until they are 6 months to 1 year old, so they look like females

I was always told to put 2 females together in a cage. Not a male and a female because there's a tendancy they won't get along. Which is what it sounds like with your problem. There could be a chance that the female isn't in her cycle and the male is trying to breed with her anyway. I'd separate them for a while and maybe try to place them together for short periods of time. To get them associated with each other. If that doesn't work out, you may have to separate them for good. I believe it also helps if the male and female are the same breed... the two girls I had were both teddybear hamsters. I also had a third, a fancy hamster, but was told not to put her with the teddybear girls. They'd fight & one or all would end up being dead.

hamsters don't usually get along with eachother, they're better off with one per cage. I bought 2 hamsters a few weeks ago and I had to take one back to the pet store because they fought. I've heard they will fight to the death, so be careful.
